Electric Sales & Service Ltd. was incorporated in Barbados as a supplier and distributor of electrical goods and services. We were one of the first agents of General Electric appliances.
In 1965 the company was sold to USI, a large American company, and was incorporated under its world wide umbrella. Over the years the company expanded into heavy mechanical machines with its main brand being Caterpillar. Many additional lines were added to the growing portfolio of the company, and during the late sixties Trane air-conditioning was added to the list.
In 1977 USI decided to pull out of the Caribbean and the company was split into two divisions; mechanical and electrical. The mechanical division was sold to Plantrac, a division of Neal & Massy. The electrical division was sold to local concern and the name Electric Sales & Service Ltd. was revived.

TThe company presently employs 28 office and administrative staff with 9 of those being dedicated sales people. We employ over 25 full time trained technicians, 6 temporary workers and 10 air conditioner installers. Most of our staff have traveled through the region and we have successfully completed contracts from Guyana in the south up to St. Kitts in the north.

- We are agents for Trane, Daikin and Tempstar air conditioners in Barbados and we also have the rights to sell the goods in most of the Caricom region. We have experience in the design and installation of all types of domestic systems (i.e., split systems) up to large chiller water plants for commercial customers.
- This department is very experienced in the business of design/build contracts. Our product line is expansive covering commercial ovens and ranges by Blodgett and American Range, reach in refrigerators and drinks coolers by Beverage Air, walk in coolers, freezers and blast freezers.
- Since 1936 we have beeen representing General Electric appliances in Barbados. Over the years we have added Dewalt power tools and Sunroc bottled water coolers to our repertoire, just to name a few.
- We represent Otis, the largest elevator manufacturer worldwide, as well as Hyundai escalators. We also represent Garaventa, specializing in chair lifts.
Parts - We have a full parts department utilizing 4,000 square feet of floor space. We attempt to stock all suggested replacement parts as recommended by our suppliers. This department carries over 10,000 individual items in stock.
- Within our service department we have several specialty areas; Refrigeration and Air conditioning, Laundry and Cooking equipment, Elevators and Escalators, a sheet metal and air ductwork fabrication shop and complete service teams. We pride ourselves on our prompt service and the highly trained technicians. We currently manage over 100 monthly service contracts and make approximately 200 service calls a month.
